Jesús, like Juan, now finds he can communicate telepathically, but only with el Burro. (Sparrow is puzzled – if him, why not me?) 'You're whining,' says el Burro to Jesús whose love life is not going well.
Pueblo isn't exactly Murder Capital of the World, but is doing it's best with a second murder within a year. Sargenta Carmen of the Guardia Civil investigates. The murderer is the least of what she discovers. Should applicants to the GC be given intelligence tests? is one of the questions she might ask where el Capitán, Pepe and Raúl are concerned.
The Priest is unravelling with the help of a little brown bird, and ends up resembling the human equivalent of el Capitán's debilitated raffia-seat chair. Only in striped pyjamas. The Church are looking for him, so he hides out in Jesús' cortijo, together with Pepe who is avoiding the fallout from his part in the second murder.
Eventually the two murderers are drawn into the same orbit, find one another sufficiently compelling to take off for a surfing holiday. So much for symmetry 'below'.
'Above' the two murder victims are establishing a relationship, of sorts. Watch this space.
