A native of Texas, I fell in love with Tennessee in the early 1990's. My children & grandchildren have all been raised here amongst the stunning natural beauty of the forests, mountains & waterfalls.
After returning to Texas in 2014 to care for my mother, my husband John and I, married in 2017, would talk of Tennessee often. In 2023, we had the opportunity to permanently relocate and we made the jump!
We are both semi-retired now, working part-time but busier than ever building our homestead, diversifying our income and making an honest attempt to put every square inch of this place to work.
Our home, Folklore, is a homestead in the mystical Appalachian foothills of Celina, Tennessee. Guided by the ancestors of this special place, you will find us connecting to spirit, cultivating produce, pressure canning, building furniture & decor from reclaimed wood, handcrafting skin balms, perfume & cologne oil as well as candles.
Things to note about living here: The mountains create their own weather. Wildlife are curious & will bring you messages. The land will tell you what to grow. You will see animals that you cannot explain. The wind will talk to you & call your name. You will see lights where there are none. The foggy mist has a life of its own & may pass your window on a 100-degree day. The river stones have their own special properties. Collect with intent & in the direction that the water flows.
Lean in & let spirit fill your sails,
Karen

‘Because "God" is infinite, nobody can have the last word’
What is this thing, religion, supposedly the cause of bloodshed and warring for centuries? What is ‘God’ and do we need ‘Him’ in our modern world? Karen Armstrong looks again at these questions in a refreshing and startling way. God is not to be ‘believed in’ as a child believes in Santa Claus; religion is not a story to be proven true or false, but a discipline akin to music or art that answers a deeply human need, and can teach us to discover new capacities of mind and heart.
